Bitumen Drums
The bitumen or asphalt steel drum is a light gauge, one-trip drum with a 160-liter/42-gallon capacity and an internal diameter of 500 mm. This type of drum is used for hot filling of asphalt/bitumen solidifying or creating viscosity after cooling.
These externally painted drums are supplied with seamed or expanded lids for which a special hand-closing tool can be provided. Depending on the exact product to be packed, the lid contains a compound or no compound (to prevent vacuum collapse after filling and closing).
