Affiliations and Memberships
World Business Council for Sustainable Development
Greif is a member of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), which is a CEO-led global association of approximately 200 lof the most environmentally responsible companies in the world. Member companies are committed to providing business leadership as a catalyst for change toward sustainable development. Members are drawn from more than 30 countries and 20 major industrial sectors.
As a member of the WBCSD, we are actively engaging our employees to move sustainability toward being an integral part of every business unit. We also signed on to the organization's Manifesto for Energy Efficiency in Buildings (EEB).
Clinton Global Initiative
Established in 2005 by President Bill Clinton, the Clinton Global Initiative convenes government officials, business leaders and nonprofit directors from all over the world to devise and implement innovative answers to some of the world's most pressing challenges. Members devise practical solutions to global issues through the development of specific and measurable Commitments to Action.
As a CGI member, Greif has made commitments to:
- Improve pollinator habitat on industrial timberlands to benefit the health and sustainability of the local eco-systems
- Develop innovative products that will help people and communities that are struggling with access to water and develop solutions that will help highly water-stressed regions of the world to conserve, store and use this precious resource
- Support the steel drum artisan community in Haiti
GEMI
The Global Environment Management Initiative is beginning to develop the GEMI Local Water Tool™ (LWT), in cooperation with the WBCSD. When completed, this tool will be a free, publically available tool that will help companies understand their local water challenges.
