Greif CEO to Keynote WBCSD 2019 World Council Meeting Dinner

DELAWARE, Ohio – (PRNewswire) Oct. 10, 2019 – Greif, Inc. (NYSE: GEF, GEF.B), a global leader in industrial packaging products and services, today announced Greif’s President and Chief Executive Officer Pete Watson will be the keynote speaker at the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) annual meeting dinner, kicking off the four-day event.

“It is our honor to support an event that gathers representatives from more than 200 global companies dedicated to working together to create a sustainable world,” says Mr. Watson.  

The 2019 WBCSD Council Meeting will take place October 14-17 in Lisbon, Portugal. This year’s theme is Lead, Transform and Succeed. Greif is sponsoring the Council Dinner on October 14, where Mr. Watson will provide remarks focusing on the linkage between servant leadership and sustainability.

“Applying a servant leader approach to sustainability means finding ways to serve our colleagues, customers, shareholders, ecosystems and communities where we operate,” says Mr. Watson. “It’s about taking care of and serving all of our stakeholders and our planet.”

Greif’s commitment to sustainability is evident by several recognitions received during 2019:

·       Gold Rating in sustainability performance by EcoVadis, an independent rating agency specializing in the evaluation of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), for the second year in a row. Greif scored in the top four percent of all companies evaluated by EcoVadis.

·       Recognition from several customers including Solvay’s Supplier Sustainability Award. Solvay, a chemical company based in Belgium, recognized the company for its sustainability accomplishments and its ability to help customers achieve their sustainability goals.

·       A- score for environmental leadership by the non-profit organization CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project).

Greif reports annually on its corporate responsibility efforts and progress in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards and fulfills UN Global Compact requirements. Greif’s sustainability 2018 achievements can be seen in its annual Sustainability Report.
