The PPWR is not just another regulatory directive; it is a legally binding framework across all EU member states, designed to reduce packaging waste, increase recyclability, promote reuse, mandate recycled content (PCR), and harmonise packaging standards across the European market.
The regulation entered into force on 11 February 2025, with many obligations taking effect from 12 August 2026.
