Coated recycled paperboard (CRB) is a paperboard made from recycled paper fibers with a coating applied to its surface.
The coating, which can be applied to one or both sides of the paperboard, gives the material a smooth, glossy finish and makes it more resistant to wear and tear. Coated recycled paperboard is often used for printing applications, such as book covers, magazines, and brochures. It is also used for packaging, such as boxes and cartons, and for other types of products, such as playing cards and business cards.
Like uncoated recycled paperboard, coated recycled paperboard is a more environmentally friendly option than paperboard made from virgin fibers, as it reduces the amount of waste in landfills and requires fewer resources to produce. However, it is not as easily recyclable as uncoated paperboard, as the coating can make it more difficult to break down the fibers during the recycling process.
