We recognize that today’s children are tomorrow’s leaders. The Greif Foundation invests in career-driven higher education scholarship programs, learning and enrichment opportunities for primarily underserved students (K-12), and college and career/workforce readiness initiatives that prepare future leaders by inspiring curiosity, building critical skills, and preparing the next generation for brighter futures.
The Greif Foundation funds direct services and activities geared toward improving the quality of life for our neighbors. We support programs that promote community wellbeing and healthy bodies and minds, strengthening the quality of life for our neighbors and building more resilient communities globally.
Addressing food security, housing, emergency assistance (community response) and other basic needs, the Greif Foundation supports initiatives that provide critical resources and uplift those facing hardship in global communities where Greif operates. In addition, funding extends to support the work of non-profit organizations that bring sustainability to life to help underserved communities globally.

At Greif, we understand the importance of family and providing loved ones with the best opportunities to help them succeed. With the rising cost of postsecondary study the Greif Foundation is helping put the success and education of our colleagues and their families on a brighter path. In 2007, Greif established a scholarship program to assist our colleagues’ children who plan to continue education in college or vocational school programs. Scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice.
The Greif Colleagues Helping Colleagues Fund was created to help colleagues who are facing financial hardship immediately after a natural disaster, unforeseen personal hardship or extraordinary circumstances. The Fund relies on support from the Greif Foundation and individual donations from colleagues. Hardship relief grants help fellow colleagues in need when they are facing the unexpected.
The Greif Foundation takes great pride in supporting the global communities where we operate and we are committed to making the communities where our colleagues and customers live and work stronger through community partnership — with the goal of creating positive and lasting social, environmental and economic impacts across the world.
The investments of the Greif Foundation drive colleague engagement. Ensuring a great workplace starts with listening to Greif colleagues and acting on what matters most to them. The Greif Foundation recognizes the financial commitments our colleagues make to nonprofit organizations by matching their personal donations and amplifying these important gifts. Qualified nonprofit organizations focused on the education, health and basic needs sectors may qualify for disbursements.
By investing in education, health and basic needs, the Greif Foundation is represented where it matters while helping to create thriving communities. Our philanthropy reflects the Greif Way and is the basis of our approach to ensuring sustainable community support with measurable impact. Greif Foundation grants are intended to supplement and enhance community impact efforts and to support strategic, high impact initiatives, including limited requests for capital dollars. Grant funding requests may consist of sustainable operating support; program/project support and capital support. Organizations applying for funding must be in good financial standing and demonstrate responsible stewardship of funds.
