Climate
Renewable energy investments, operational and energy efficiency, and collaborative tools and technologies help lessen our climate impacts. We have goals to reduce our absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions by 28% and reduce energy use by 10% for every unit of production from a 2019 baseline.
Spild
With hazardous and nonhazardous waste, a management strategy is critical to our colleagues’ wellbeing and sustainability commitments. We track our waste management efforts through our compliance management system (CMS) and in 2025, all but 11 legacy Greif production facilities diverted 90% or more of waste.
Operational Excellence
Through the Greif Business System (GBS), we drive best-in-class execution worldwide, sharing best practices, unlocking efficiency, and aggregating marginal gains. We combine top-down and bottom-up approaches to capture value-creation opportunities and operate more efficiently, including how we source, transport, and use resources, collaborate, and leverage technology.
Environmental Management System
Under a One Greif approach, we follow a global process and system with a comprehensive set of policies, technologies, and trainings. Our Environmental Management System (EMS) mitigates and manages environmental impacts, such as pollutant emissions from manufacturing processes.
Vand
Improving water efficiency and managing effluents and stormwater runoffs are key to responsible water management. Additionally, we use the Water Resources Institute’s Aqueduct Water Risk Atlas to assess water stress in the regions where we operate.
