Burton on Trent Team Celebrates NVQ Level 2 Grads

The Greif UK Burton on Trent team recently celebrated the achievements of 14 colleagues who successfully passed their National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 2 Diploma in Performing Manufacturing Operations. NVQ is a work-based competency qualification developed in partnership with industry experts in manufacturing and in accordance with national occupational standards for engineering.

In their continued partnership with Cheshire College – South & West, the Burton on Trent colleagues and Greif UK leaders united in celebration with Karen Roberts, Assistant Principal of Cheshire College; Helen Meakin, Employer Engagement & Relationship Manager; Mick Taylor, College Tutor; and Colin Stokes, Business Development Executive.

The Greif UK plants have remained focused on the key drivers and skills underpinning organizational performance and productivity. Michelle Crown, UK HR Manager explains, “It’s vital to nurture talent and promote internal mobility within Greif. A culture of internal talent development is one that appreciates the value of lifelong learning. Employees everywhere want support to learn, grow, and futureproof their careers.

A key turning point for Greif UK Ltd. was 18 months ago when we took a holistic overview of the skills already within the organization and developed a 3-year road map for each UK plant. Purposeful communication with our employees helped them know that career and skills development are essential for long-term success. This longer-term planning meant we identified the skills needed to achieve the longer-term strategic priorities of the business and enabled us to focus on upskilling our existing talent. A partnership was formed with Cheshire College – South & West with a number of training programs underway and in the planning phase. The level of support and guidance from the college has been amazing.”
