Greif Louisville Achieves SQF Certification and Three Years Zero Harm

The Greif corrugated bulk packaging facility in Louisville, KY, receives SQF certification and reaches three years zero harm

Congratulations to the Louisville, Kentucky, corrugated bulk packaging plant, which is celebrating its Safety Quality Foods Certification (SQF) and three years of zero harm.

Achieving their SQF certification was a significant undertaking requiring dedication and determination by the entire Louisville team. To them, the certification is a testament to their commitment to quality and safety and a reflection of our dedication to meeting and exceeding industry regulations while continuing to build trust with customers and stakeholders.

The Louisville plant team has worked hard for the past year to achieve SQF Certification. SQF is a food safety standard recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), which sets standards to guarantee the safety of food products across the supply chain. This certification allows Greif to demonstrate our compliance with GFSI’s rigorous requirements for food safety management systems.

Their commitment to safety is demonstrated through a strong zero-harm culture integral to their daily operations. All colleagues, from top management to frontline workers, actively promote and practice safe work habits.

On Feb 8th, 2024, the plant achieved three years of zero harm incidents, reaching  875,000 hours since the last medical incident. Through this, the plant has met the requirements of the Safety & Health Achievement Recognition Program (S.H.A.R.P.) and has been recertified as a SHARP site.

The plant employs over 160 people, 30% starting within the past year. The leadership has invested in safety training for new employees and ongoing safety training for long-time employees. “We are not a safety-first location; we are a safety-always location.” Says Scott Ford, Sr. Safety Health and Environmental Coordinator.

The plant is focused on the safety of our employees and is determined to achieve food safety standards and certifications for the products we manufacture. These products include triple wall sheets, double and triple wall boxes, laminated totes, and corrugated pallets.

These achievements give the Louisville colleagues and leadership a sense of pride and inspiration. Congratulations to the entire team for your dedication and commitment to creating thriving communities and keeping our people and products safe for our customers.
