Greif has an ongoing commitment to minimize the impact our business has on the environment. At Greif, we are committed to reducing our carbon footprint across our value chain. “We set our first energy consumption and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions targets in 2007. Since then, we have been working hard to meet our targets, minimize our overall environmental footprint and identify sources of carbon emissions that we can take further action to reduce,” explains Aysu Katun, Director of Sustainability.
One such source is business travel. Business travel is a necessary part of the way we work, as our ability to serve our clients depends on being able to visit their locations. However, we continue to challenge ourselves on the need, frequency and mode of travel.
This year we are taking an additional step. To celebrate the 48th anniversary of Earth Month and further reduce our carbon footprint, Soterra, our subsidiary engaged in Land Management, will be planting 30,000 trees to offset the carbon emissions equivalent to the miles traveled by our associates globally in 2017.
