Greif launches enhanced protection feature on the GCUBE Valve

Date: 2018-09-19

Greif, a global leader in industrial packaging products and services, is delighted to announce a new innovation to its butterfly valve, for deployment on the successful range of GCUBE intermediate bulk containers (IBCs).

The new product innovation sees Greif replace the standard generic aluminium foil seal with an entirely new GCUBE branded aluminium foil seal, designed specifically to remove the risk of product counterfeiting while also offering customers the reassurance of improved product protection.

Greif’s butterfly valve already affords customers a number of key benefits over other leading manufacturers.  With a polyethylene based product interface it is universally compatible for use with both chemical and food products.  Additionally, from an operative’s perspective, it is very easily and quickly opened by hand and crucially for the environment, it is 100 percent recyclable.

Luca Bettoni, Greif EMEA IBC and Plastic Product Manager, explained: “We continue to invest in our GCUBE IBC solutions and this new branded butterfly valve seal is yet another significant market development.  We are the first company to introduce a branded aluminum foil seal to its IBC valves giving customers total confidence in the integrity of the seal and most importantly the contents of the container at its end destination. Both the branded foil and safety screw are removable by hand and the technology used means there will be no foil residuals left on the valve outlet thus eliminating the risk of contamination.

With this new valve we combine safety  with the easiest handling: just your hand is enough to open the valve with no need for tools such as screwdrivers or cutters.”

The GCUBE branded aluminium foil seal is suitable for a range of markets including food and beverage, speciality chemicals, pharmaceutical and personal care, flavours and fragrances and lubricants.

Greif entered the IBC market with the acquisition of Fustiplast in 2010 and in the last eight years has become the fastest growing and highest investing company on IBC production. Greif’s GCUBE intermediate bulk container heralds the new generation of IBCs - efficient, safe and rugged, ideal for shipping bulk quantities of hazardous and non-hazardous products. Greif has ten IBC facilities across EMEA and 14 globally.
